The IBEW-NECA Technical Institute (INTECH) coordinated a special Open House on November 15 – 16, 2024. The Showcase & Open House featured industry vendors, tours of the school, and numerous informational sessions that featured new tools, new technology discussions, solar news, safety and code updates.

Fox Business: Suicide Rate Among Construction Workers Hits Crisis Levels
The construction industry has one of the highest suicide rates compared to other industries, the CDC said.
Kevin O’Shea, president of Shamrock Electric Co., Inc., has one vital message to construction workers who are struggling with their mental health: call him. It's a message he shares as much as possible, given the growing number of suicides among workers in the industry.

The recent Joint Safety Forum, "Workplace Mental Health & Suicide Prevention Training," hosted by the Safety Committee's of the Electrical Contractors’ Association of City of Chicago (ECA) and the Northeastern Illinois Chapter of NECA, as well as by PowerForward DuPage was well attended. Over 40 registered for the complimentary program that was held on April 26, 2025 at DuPage / Local 701 JATC in Warrenville, IL. The recent Joint Safety Forum, "Workplace Mental Health & Suicide Prevention Training," hosted by the Safety Committee's of the Electrical Contractors’ Association of City of Chicago (ECA) and the Northeastern Illinois Chapter of NECA, as well as by PowerForward DuPage was well attended. Over 40 registered for the complimentary program that was held on April 26, 2025 at DuPage / Local 701 JATC in Warrenville, IL. The Forum also included presentations which included a Local 701 MAP update, Local 134 MAP and ECA ERS update and a Construction Industry Alliance Suicide Prevention update.

The Electrical Contractors’ Association of City of Chicago (ECA), held its April Membership meeting on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at the Union Leage Club of Chicago. The luncheon program featured industry updates, and guest presentations from Grant Ullrich, Managing Deputy Commissioner, Chicago Department of Buildings (DOB) and Jared Policicchio, Deputy Commissioner, Deputy Chief Sustainability Officer who discussed Chicago's proposed "Clean and Affordable Buildings Ordinance."
