ECA November Membership Meeting Highlights

The ECA November Membership meeting was held on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at the Erie Cafe in Chicago, Illinois. The meeting was highlighted by the voting in of the new slate of the ECA Executive Committee members for 2020: Katie Canino, Canino Electric Company; William Cullen, Sharlen Electric Company; Kendra Dinkins, Taylor Electric Company; Robert Fimbianti, Linear Electric, Inc., Frank Gurtz, Gurtz Electric Company; Richard Jamerson, Jamerson & Bauwens Electrical Contractors, Inc.; Jerry McGlynn, McWilliams Electric Company, Inc.; Gary Misicka, Lyons Electric Company, Inc.; Eric Nixon, Maropn Electric Company; Thomas Rivi, G & M Electrical Contractors Company; Nicholas Santoro, JMS Electric, Inc.; William Schult, Super Electric Construction Company and Michael Schwarz, Advent Systems, Inc.  The Association congratulates these individuals and wishes them well for the upcoming year of service to not only the ECA, but to the industry!  Also, a presentation was made by Mr. David Ward, NECA Midwest Field Representative, as he outlined the NECA 1025 Initiative.

Mr. Richard Jamerson, ECA President, Jamerson & Bauwens Electrical Contractors, Inc., introduced the guest speaker, Mr. David Ward, NECA Midwest Field Representative and Mr. Sam Lacher, new NECA Midwest Field Representative.  Mr. Ward encouraged the membership to continue to pursue the NECA 1025 Initiative.  His presentation highlighted the NECA 1025 Initiative – increasing overall market share by 10% by 2025. Utilizing the overall NECA membership, the many IBEW locals and other major players in the unionized electrical construction industry, is crucial for the success of this effort.   He further discussed the various issues concerning promoting growth in the industry through this joint effort.   Issues discussed included the following:  portability, innovative technology, attrition, alternate classification of workers, market recovery programs, collaborative recruiting efforts, manpower needs, manpower growth, construction growth, market share growth, among other areas.  Mr. Ward was met with a round of applause at the conclusion of the of Q & A portion of his presentation.  We thank Dave for his efforts with the meeting!
