Apprentice Graduation Ceremony

The Apprentice Graduation Ceremony was held on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at the IBEW-NECA Technical Institute (INTECH) in Alsip, IL. Nearly 200 graduates were from the “A” Program and over 30 graduates were from the “C” Program. The event featured a number of industry speakers and special recognitions.
The overall event was sponsored by the Labor Management Cooperation Committee Chicago (LMCC Chicago). Powering Chicago sponsored the “Andrea Hall Apprentice Excellence Award” (originated by Maron Electric Company).
The evening program began with an Invocation by Deacon John Donahue, J.D., Ed.D.
The Electrical Joint Apprentice & Training Trustees (EJATT) were acknowledged: Local 134 representatives: Don Finn, Chair, Local #134, IBEW Business Manager / Financial Secretary, Tim Fitzgibbons, Local #134 IBEW President, Shirley Williams, Marco Calderon and George Mostardini. The Electrical Contractors’ Association of City of Chicago (ECA) representatives: James McGlynn, Sr., Vice-Chairman, McWilliams Electric Company, Inc., Bob Fimbianti, ECA President, Linear Electric, Inc., Frank Gurtz, Gurtz Electric Co., Scott Block, Block Electric Company, Inc., Gary Misicka, Lyons Electric Company, Inc.
Guest Speakers were Don Finn, Local #134, IBEW Business Manager / Financial Secretary and Bob Fimbianti, ECA President, Linear Electric, Inc. Each spoke of the importance of continuing education in the industry. Each commended the efforts of not only the journeylevel graduates, but of the families, the instructors, the EJATT members, as their efforts to support this industry significantly impacted the programming and its positive outcome. This great industry continues through the joint efforts of Local 134 and the ECA. Each congratulates the new journeylevel electricians!
After the diplomas were distributed, Gene Kent, INTECH Director made special presentations: “A” Program Apprentice of the Year – Sean C. Belton; “C” Program Apprentice of the Year – Mike Delgado; “Andrea Hall Apprentice Excellence Award” – Sara M. Shebelski; and the “Terry Allen Brotherhood Award” – Amanda Blair.
Again, congratulations to all of the graduates!
