Please review the highlights of the "Pull Planning" Seminar!

“Pull Planning” Seminar

The Electrical Contractors’ the Electrical Contractors' Association of City of Chicago (ECA) Research and Education Committee sponsored a  seminar called, "Pull Planning."  The event was held from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at the Drake Oak Brook Hotel, 2301 York Road, Oak Brook, Illinois.  The seminar was conducted by Mr. Brian Lightner, Maxim Consulting Group.  Pull Planning is a lean technique that is being successfully deployed in the construction industry to help improve coordination, planning, and ultimately reduce overall schedule durations. Participants reviewed case studies demonstrating the inefficiencies experienced on projects due to out of sequence work. An introduction to pull planning techniques and terminology allowed participants to join in on two separate hands on activities that illustrated the productivity improvements experiences as a result of batch flow and sequential work. At the conclusion of the session, participants were educated on the impacts and overall process of pull planning.

Following this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the mechanics and terminology of pull planning,
  • Identify waste associated with out of sequence work,
  • Effectively participate in a pull planning session with owners or general contractors

We thank Mr. Lightner for his time at the seminar.
