"Pull Planning"

The Electrical Contractors' Association of City of Chicago (ECA) Research and Education Committee is pleased to announce a seminar called, "Pull Planning."  The event will be held from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at the Drake Oak Brook Hotel, 2301 York Road, Oak Brook, Illinois, (630) 571-0000.  (Please Note:  Breakfast,only, is to be provided).

THE FEE FOR THIS PROGRAM IS $100.00 PER ECA MEMBER.
THE NON-MEMBER FEE IS $390.00 PER PERSON.

Pull Planning is a lean technique that is being successfully deployed in the construction industry to help improve coordination, planning, and ultimately reduce overall schedule durat ions. Participants will review case studies demonstrating the inefficiencies experienced on projec due to out of sequence work. An introduction to pull planning techniques and terminology will allow participant to join in on two separate hands on activities that illustrate the productivity improvements experiences as a result of batch flow and sequential work. At the conclusion of the session, participants will be educated on the impacts and overall process of pull planning.
 
Following this course, participants will be able to:
  • Understand the mechanics and terminology of pull planning,
  • Identify waste associated with out of sequence work,
  • Effectively participate in a pull planning session with owners or general contractors.

Brian Lightner
Associate Director, Maxim Consulting Group

Brian Lightner is an Associate Director with Maxim Consulting Group, responsible for evaluation and the implementation processes with their clients. He has worked with construction firms of various, including the first ISO 9000 certified General Contractor in the U.S., to lead process improvement initiatives.

Having worked in the construction industry for over 20 years, Brian is keenly aware of the challenges that contractors face, including in their field operations. Mr. Lightner's areas of expertise include: Project planning, scheduling, and execution; field productivity assessments; project recovery; and process improvement, integration, and standardization. He is frequently found speaking at Marquette University and the Lean Construction Institute on implementing lean processes into the construction process.

 Professional Experience

Brian possesses the unique combination of talent from being in the field as a carpenter and superintendent, and working his way up to lead company-wide Process Improvement initiatives. His experience with concrete, carpentry, masonry, steel and demolition working with highly successful General Contractors, allowed him to execute countless field operation and productivity studies. Mr. Lightner has facilitated countless production and process events and is comfortable utilizing Lean Tools to increase productivity. He is skilled at efficiency in the "bricks & mortar" of the construction industry and strives to ensure every process in an organization effectively supports what the client value the most - the end-product.
